Torhaus Membership
The Torhaus is always happy to welcome new members! As a member, you can get discounted prices on all beverages at our events. Even more importantly, memberships help sustain the Torhaus. What does KÜFA mean?
KüFA stands for „Küche für Alle,“ meaning „Kitchen for All“ –a place where food is prepared and served communally, often made from rescued food, to foster connection and address political issues.
What does a typical meeting look like?
We come together once a month in our Jour Fixe to discuss ideas, plan events, and share skills. Expect a friendly and inclusive atmosphere with plenty of snacks.
How much or how little can I contribute?
As much as you’re comfortable with! We welcome all levels of involvement, whether you’re here for a single event or ready to become a core member of the team.
Do volunteers need any prior experience?
No prior experience is necessary, you don’t even need to be very good at cooking. We’re happy to welcome anyone who follows our code of conduct and is eager to contribute.
How much time is expected from volunteers?
There’s no set time commitment—we understand life happens and free time varies. That said, we encourage you to focus on at least one internal topic or team that interests you.
Is there any training provided before starting?
We’ll send you an onboarding email to get you started.
Can volunteers attend events for free or at a discounted rate?
All of our events are donation-based. If you’re volunteering, we don’t expect you to make a donation.
Where is ToKoKo located?
We are based in the Torhaus, located at Columbiadamm 10, 12101 Berlin.
What do the different working groups do?
From food rescue, cooking and event planning to communication and outreach, our working groups focus on different aspects. You can join the one that suits your interests and skills. Read about our structure here.
How can I volunteer with ToKoKo?

What kind of tasks or roles are available?
ToKoKo has four main teams and several working groups. You can contribute to these existing groups or suggest your own ideas—we’re always open to growing! Check out the structure of our teams on the About Us page.
Are there specific shifts or schedules volunteers need to follow?
We hold a monthly Jour Fixe meeting where we share updates and plans for the upcoming month. Attendance is optional but encouraged!
