Accessibility at Torhaus
Information about entrances and possible barriers

Whether you’re visiting us for a community kitchen event, workshop, or any other activity, we want to ensure that you can easily access our space. Below is all the relevant information about accessibility at the Torhaus.
Location
Torhaus Koch Kollektiv is located at Columbiadamm 10, directly in front of Tempelhof Airport, Berlin. The Torhaus is a 55m² gatehouse that we use for various events and community gatherings.
Public Transport (ÖPNV)
If you’re using public transportation, the U6 line to Platz der Luftbrücke is the most convenient option. The Platz der Luftbrücke U-Bahn station is equipped with an elevator, and the walk to the Torhaus is approximately 500 meters along a paved path.
Parking
There is a large paid parking lot directly across from the Torhaus. However, the lot may sometimes be closed due to events at the airport. Feel free to contact us ahead of your visit to confirm parking availability.
Access
- Main Entrance: The entrance door on the Columbiadamm side is 88 cm wide, which is not fully barrier-free.
- Alternative Accessible Entrance: There is a second entrance at the back of the building, which is 90 cm wide and has a ramp for wheelchair users.
- Sidewalk: The Torhaus stands on a sidewalk that is about 10 meters wide with a curb that is approximately 10 cm high.
Restrooms
The gender-neutral restroom in the Torhaus is not wheelchair accessible. The nearest accessible restroom is located in the airport building, approximately 800 meters away. If there is an event at the Torhaus, we can arrange access to this accessible restroom through the building staff.
Awareness and Inclusion
We are committed to creating a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere at all events at Torhaus. We follow awareness guidelines that encourage considerate behavior and respect for everyone’s boundaries. We do not tolerate any form of racism, sexism, ableism, antisemitism, queer- or transphobia, or any other form of discriminatory or violent behavior. If you experience or observe any such behavior, please reach out to the event organizers at the Torhaus.
We also understand that invisible disabilities and challenges can impact people in different ways. While we strive to create the best possible access for all, we rely on feedback to help us improve. If you have any suggestions or concerns regarding accessibility, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
